Listed below are 2 alternative ways of playing pickleball.

Speed Pickleball: I bought a small blue cowbell today and will put it in the cart for those that wish to try speed pickleball. Hosts can try it when playing King of the court or even for a bit during Rec. play.
Once 10 minutes are up, someone will ring the bell and players then split and move up or down depending on score. If the score is tied after 10 minutes the team that is serving moves up. It’s fun and it keeps the games moving at the same time.

Flub and Sub: (a popular new way of playing) This is a lot of fun and there is no pressure on winning whatsoever. It will only work if there are extra players. Once play begins on the courts and someone “flubs” then the extra person(s) on the sidelines runs in to take their place as a “sub”. The games go fast as people are running off and on the courts. Those on the sidelines have to pay attention to the play as they will quickly be required to go back out…. Scoring is not required for Flub and Sub… If you happen to have 3 courts with even players, you can reduce play to 2 courts and have the people on the third court be subs for this game. About 1/2 hour play is suggested for this. Or whatever host decides…. It’s a fun way to finish your day of playing….
