2ND Annual Inter-County Pickleball Tournament Series

BUCKLE UP for some very exciting news!! Guess who has challenged us to some Pickleball FUN ?! If you guessed Barrie, Midland and Wasaga Beach – you got it right. So, of course what was our response ? HECK YES !!!
Now, I would suggest you go grab yourself a cup of coffee / tea and settle in for about 10 minutes to review this message as it is loaded with some great information and opportunities.
Let’s start at the first important message about this series, “It’s all about having FUN!”
This is a fantastic way for you to “dip your toes” in a little competitive play and meet new people who love the sport as much as we all do.
Now, you are probably wondering, who can sign up and play? GREAT question, anyone who has a rating between 3.0-3.5 are eligible to participate.
SO, do we still have your attention? YES ! Here is the scoop; there will be 6 FUN tournament dates for you to consider. I know right, we did say SIX. You can express your interest to participate in 1 or ALL 6.

Here are the dates:
Saturday June 22 / 2024 – GTPC will be playing in BARRIE from 2-5PM
Saturday July 6/2024 – GTPC will be HOSTING Wasaga Beach from 9-12PM
Saturday July 13/2024 – GTPC will be playing in Midland from 9-12PM
Saturday July 20/2024 – GTPC will be HOSTING Midland from 9-12PM
Saturday July 27/2024 – GTPC will be playing in Wasaga Beach from 9-12PM
Saturday August 17/2024 – GTPC will be HOSTING Barrie from 9-12PM ​

We ask that you carefully reflect upon your schedule to ensure your availability. Once that is done, what do you need to do next? Well, this step is super easy! Simply email Cathy Bawden, who is spearheading this series, with the date(s) you would like to play.

This does not mean you are automatically in the tournament as she has the responsibility to fairly and equitably create the teams. You should note that only 16 people are able to participate on each of the above noted dates so that is why we want to make sure everyone has an opportunity.
Once the teams have been created, you will receive an email clearly indicating the date(s) you will be participating in as well as next steps and further details about the tournament.
Please note that the cost you for you to participate is $15 each date. That money will be used for refreshments, snacks, balls and court fees. There will be NO refunds if for some reason you find yourself in a scheduling conflict once you have paid, nor will you be permitted to transfer your spot to another person, as we will have a waitlist ready.
Lastly, you may have said to yourself whilst reading this, “I am not a tournament type person….” and perhaps that is true BUT we can honestly tell you that this will be 90% FUN with a 10% injection of competitive play.

Please note that going forward the board has ruled that when the ball hits the rafters or ceiling it will be considered out.

There are no court hosts for play at 9am Friday morning for either Round Robin open to all or 3.75 play.
A court host at a minimum can support both groups, however if there is no volunteer for both, play will be cancelled.
A cancellation notice will be sent out by 7am.

I'm missing my black and white Selkirk paddle...it has my name on it.
I had it at the curling club yesterday (Tuesday) 3-4:30
